My early 90's MIM Tele sounds pretty good, but as I expected, I want to make some changes. I took the .008's off that the previous owner had on, and put GHS Boomers on, .011 .015 .018 .026, .036, .050, which are much better. These strings may change, but I like the tone a lot. The bottom is a little muddy, even with the improved set-up I have.

Anyone have an STR-52 for the neck? Any experience with these Five-Two pick-ups? I might be interested in the matched set, too.

The Tele Forum is great, but is very rock oriented. As usual, I respect the voices of experience on the SGF over all others.

Thanks,

Steve

steve -

i had the 5/2 bridge pickup in a tele i foolishly sold. loved that pickup. always sounded great. cut through, had the tele snap, no harshness.

while i never heard the neck 5/2 (that guitar had an antiquity tele neck and then an antiquity humbucker), i can only imagine that it would be a quality pickup.

now i want to get that guitar back!

fwiw: my current tele has jason lollar tele set in it.

best regards,
mike
