I know this is probably gonna sound stupid but I was wondering who the steeler was on Tammy Wynettes early hits . These are the songs that made me notice the PSG. Was it Loyd Green ? Confused

I think it was Pete Drake. I think Loyd Green played some of the sessions, but wasn't it mostly Pete Drake?
Michael Douchette will know for sure.

Those are great tracks.

You may be right Cliff. I went under Lloyd Green
Tribute and did not see Tammy's version. He played
it for several more though and it doesn'nt sound the
same as Tammy's.
Come in Michael.

Lloyd played on D-I-V-O-R-C-E only. Apt #9 was Pete.

Lloyd did play on Johnny Paycheck's version of Apartment #9 (Paycheck wrote it, with Bobby Austin). Killer!

Lloyd recorded "Apartment #9" several times (with Johnny Paycheck, Charley Pride, Claude Gray and Roy Drusky), but Pete Drake played on Tammy's version. The original version by Bobby Austin has Ralph Mooney.

Kind Regards, Walter

Here's some tab and audio for those tuning in that haven't heard it. It sounds 100% better with a full band behind it!

Apartment #9 (17th tab down)

Lloyd does this crazy lick on the solo of Charley Pride's version, that amazing dissonant beauty that he does so well. I always meant to sit down and figure it out, but some things are better left unlearned. Smile Lloyd is king in my book.

Chris; add the 2nd string lowered a whole step; to 3 and 5 grip pedals down root chord to the b7th chord and pedal in and out of the 5th string as you move....Mess with that a little and see what ya come up with.

Tom, It's an MSA Legend into a Fender Steel King. For the above I was picking the strings extremely hard and right next to the changer.

Balding white guy with a drink and a cigarette in his hand between choruses. That alone makes it a winner for me! :- )

I loved the English accent myself, it was a bit of alright if I do say so. Music is indeed universal. The ole bloke on the steel ain't bad either, is he now?
Cheerios,

I always thought it was Moon on Tammys version. Pete got a lot of his feel in it. He did a great job.
