Just by chance, I was skimming the TV channels this morning, and there was a Miranda Lambert video on called "More Like Her". After hearing all the uptempo garbage she had put out in the past and the awful stage act (with flames etc), I was pleasantly surprised. So, I went onto Napster and listened to the latest album "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend". Surprisingly, about half the songs are very good. It don't get much more country than "Love Letters". She does a very good job on the old Emmy Lou Harris song "Easy From Now On" It's too bad the good stuff is usually just fillers for the album, although "More Like Her" might be her latest release (just as an aside, I love Conway Twity and think his best songs were the album fillers and not necessarily his hits). But then she has to do the pop country stuff so she gets air play and the rest of the P.R.
And another surprise, she either wrote or co-wrote the songs I like with the exception of "Easy From Now On". Who'da thunk it. I have a new respect for her.
Russ Pahl doing his regular great job on steel. Nothing super flashy, but very well played and very appropriate for the songs. |

I love Miranda's new song "More Like Her". She wrote the song herself, and it's beautiful. Before "Kerosene" was released as a single, she had another song that I loved and still love now. It's called "Bring Me Down", which was on her first record called "Kerosene". I think "More Like Her" is my new favorite Miranda song.
