Congats to the "Bawlimer" Ravens. It was an awesome defense show.
I used to live in Laurel Md and it was great to see them win. |

An interesting slant on why people with no ties to either "Super city" root for one team or the other:
My brother and daughter are both Oakland Raider fans. My brother hated the Ravens for beating Oakland in the AFC championship game, especially for the "illegal hit" on Rich Gannon that knocked him out of the game and may have reduced his effectiveness when he came back. So he was rooting for the Giants. My daughter, OTOH, rooted for Baltimore because they were the AFC representative and also because if they won it would mean that it took the best team in football to beat the Raiders.
The Ravens, it seems to me, were a very worthy Super Bowl champion. They overcame a slow start to win 12 regular-season games, they beat the Tennessee Titans on thier own field twice, they had to win that extra wild-card game and didn't get a week off like Tenesse and Oakland did, they won two road playoff games and they won all their postseason games pretty decisively.

I've been a Raider fan since the days of Daryl Lamonica and Kenny Stabler. John
Grudin needs to take note. How's that old saying go? Offense wins games but defense wins championships. |

Go Ravens !!
If my Broncos couldn't make it the Ravens were my next choice. Used to live and work in D.C./No.Va. Never did like the Redskins. Looks like Baltimore's revitilization is just about complete. Now the Oriole's need to win.
