I want to thank Bob Maickle, President of the PSGA, for the wonderful review of my new CD. I am so proud to be a long standing member of this organization and appreciate the work it accomplishes for our steel guitar world.
And, just a note to comment on Bob's statement that a "bass boost" is used to emphasize my lower notes. There is no external or internal application of bass response on the lower strings I use. My Session 500 LOW gain settings is positioned at the -3 position and the Nashville 112 LOW is at -6. If anyone is interested, my signal from my EXCEL goes to a Goodrich H10 vol. pedal. Output one from the pedal goes directly to the 500. Output two goes to an Ibanez analog delay device and that signal feeds the 112. The gain of the 112 is set very well under the output of the 500. Internal reverb is used on both amps. Presence is always at ZERO.
My 14th string is a 120 ga E note and is not used to compete with the bass players, as Bob mentioned in his review.(When Alvino Rey came to Sierra and heard my structured low chords, he decided to add an eleventh string E note to his new steel we were building for him. At that time I was using an 080 ga for this low E note. My new EXCEL incorporated the 120 ga).
Bob, it was such an honor to have you review my CD. Thanks so much and I do hope to experience one of the best steel shows this coming year there with you and your outstanding crew.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All!

Bill,
I appreciate your posting of this special note of thanks to Bob Maickel for the great review of your new album and for the great service he provides to us through the PSGA. Bob also posted Mike Gross' review of my Christmas album in the latest newsletter -- for which I thanked Bob and Mike elsewhere in this Forum.
Bob goes beyond the call of duty in keeping the PSGA and that great newsletter going. I proudly display my PSGA sticker in the rear window of my car. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Mike and Roy-what a team you two make.
Mike, I really admire and thank you for all you have done and are doing for our steel world, and especially for selecting some of my efforts to play on your program. Most appreciated.
Roy, hearing from you is like a special treasure from heaven. All you have done in our steel world is amazing and I am so proud of our friendship. A true LEGEND here folks. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to ALL.

One of the "Gentle Giants" in the steel world. All his CD's are "Unforgettable"
His steel shows are outstanding and the hospitality overwhelms you. His heart is so filled with music it takes 14 strings to get it all out. Plus he's my wife's favorite steel player and she don't mind telling everybody. Builder, player, innovator, motivator, and nicest guy you will ever want to meet. Can't wait for your next show.
Love and blessings from,

Hal, having my new cd in your truck should give you much extra mpg. Thanks for your support. Enjoyed your playing at the Laurel, Ms. show a few weeks ago. Better all the time and I have to tell all the readers here that no one, and I do mean NO ONE, can play our "National Anthem" better than you. Have to include "How Great Thou Art" in that listing also.
Doc, really appreciate your nice comments and support. It greatly inspires me when those good words come from your wife. I am grateful for all you talented musicians and especially proud that non playing steel guitar folks express this for me. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
