This is a tribute to a great steel player who encoraged a lot of us guys back in the 50's with his great playing. The first time I saw him was at Cliffy Stone's Home Town Jamboree in California. He and Jimmy Bryant were awsome. That really lit a fire under me.I really wanted to play good then. Happy Birthday Speedy, and many many more. Mitzi & I love you. |

Happy Birthday, Speedy. Both he & Jimmy have been a big influence on me. I even wrote an instrumental "Watch Your Speed" as a tribute to him, and he has recently honored me by putting it in his museum. Thanks again, Speedy and may you have many more birthdays. Best, Boomer |

Happt Birthday Speedy - I can never thank you enough for being one of my earliest heros on the steel and for fostering my interest in playing steel.
God bless, and many more.

Many happy returns Speedy. Betty sends her love also to you and yours.
Words could never fully express how I feel about you and the influence you and Jerry Byrd have made in my efforts and love for our insturment. (Jerry's birthday is coming next month-he must be a lot older than you, I bet.)LOL
Stay healthy and happy. See you next month in Dallas. Oh Yes, Herby Wallace and I are going to re-release the album we did together a few years ago. Should be ready for the Dallas show. I will make sure you get a copy as Herby played "Beautiful Kahana" on this set with us. He, Herby, is amazing and I know how proud you are of him. Thanks for all your talents and influences.
Love you very much,
Bill Stafford |

Happy Birthday to one of the best. I will always cherish meeting Mr. West in Nashville 20+ years ago. He was gracious as always to talk with me and to autograph his picture in the Winnie Winston book. The picture says a lot about the man. Many Happy returns. |

Happy Birthday, Speedy. I can't imagine the steel guitar and all of its rich history without you. You have inspired me and so many other members of this Forum. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Dallas.

Happy Birthday Speedy....
Thanks for being instrumental to many of us and our efforts with the steel.
Thanks for taking time recently to help me remember old times in So. Cal.
