(This is really for both pedal and non-pedal players).
Since starting to learn, I have been overwhelmed looking at the number of different tunings for both pedal and non-pedal guitar set-ups used by everyone. Its not only the strings, its the gages of the strings!
Many of these tunings might require string gages not found in a "traditional E9 or C6" pack.
So, for both practical and economic reasons, I would like some suggestions for purchasing strings. Is it better to buy a whole set which is cheaper but then have "wasted strings which aren't used" , or to purchase the strings individually?
What do you do?
Thanks

I get the Jagwires from b0b right here on the forum.
Just click on the "STRINGS" tab at the top of the page.
b0b will make up custom sets for you, so there won't be any wasted strings.
He gets them out fast and shipping is free.

I've been using Jagwires, too--it's great to be able to get just what you want.
On another lap steel I use D'Addario Chromes, and it ended up being cheaper to order a standard set and replace the unwound strings. For strings I can't get here I buy from First Quality (fqms.com) and Elderly Music. |

I keep a list of all the gauges that I use on each of my guitars and about twice a year I order enough individual strings to restring each instrument about 5-times! Plus I keep an ample supply of spare PSG-Gauges that might tend to break occasionally! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

+1 on the Jagwires!
And it's nice to be able to purchase them direct from Bob and the forum. _________________ If it’s on the ground it can’t fall down. |
