Hi there,
I am posting this just because I am so thrilled it is finally done.
It ain't perfect but it is done and sounds good.
Why I start these projects I have no idea.
Although I just played it for the 1st time and it was worth it.
Last year sometime I bought a Marrs Catcan from Alan Brookes.
I was appropriately amazed with it and love the darn thing. It is fun.
A few months after that I found another one in an antique/junk store.
They weren't aware of what it was except "some kind of old guitar".
This one however was trashed. Warped body, dents, dings, missing fretboard etc.
It still had the original Bill Lawrence pickup so took a chance on it
and coaxed them in to $75. If the pickup worked it was worth it.
Many months later it is finished..........whew.
I cut an oak blank for the body and stained it black cherry. Same with the neck.
I topped the neck with 1/8 acrylic and ordered a sticky fretboard from Georgeboards
which worked perfectly.
I made the tailpiece etc. myself but all I have are a table top bandsaw, some files,
a drill, 48,000 sheets of sandpaper, 10 gallons of Mother's Aluminum polish and
no common sense whatsoever. It took a while.
I discovered I hate polishing aluminum.......................and fingerprints.
Now I need a drink. You folks have a good day..........

| Nice rebuild job Larry. I used to have one of those, different pickup though. It fell victim to economic issues. Sounded great...wish I still had it...they are fun little guitars. |

Larry It is looks great!!! Did you retain the "resonator"? Said another way: What is beneath the round bridge.

Yes sir I did.
Under the bridge now resides a Costco Kirkland brand tuna fish can. Empty of course....... 
It is the same size except for about 3/32" in height but it fit and it works.
It sounds good to me although just a bit different.....maybe a bit more on the treble side.
I attribute that to the can being lighter weight than the original cans that were used although I could be wrong on that.
So far it is holding up under the tension just fine.
If I can find a heavier weight can I will definitely grab a few.

I know this isn't a work of art but it was a fun project, sort of  , and I am enjoying this guitar very much.
