Richard,I just loaded the BIAB 2008.5 upgrade yesterday..I also bought the latest mega pac..Haven't had a chance to do more than glance at it,but those new real styles look great..There is even some dobro stuff.
One word of caution,If you buy the hard copy of mega pac it will come in DVD format.I had to install a DVD to run it....PJ... |

Hi Joe
I have all the real tracks & the Country 75 Styles Set plus the country real drums. I think that will be about all I need for now. The real fiddle sounds pretty decent along with the real sax & the real acoustic guitar is fantastic. The real lead country guitar is pretty much crap ![Sad](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) _________________ steelguitarguy.com |

I bought the 2008.5 upgrade and have been very pleased. All the live instruments are fantastic (a matter of opinion) and the new styles are great (especially the country styles). The one thing one must remember is that biab right out of the box will seldom render usable realistic and killer tracks for demos or albums. It wasn't meant for that it's main purpose is to get some cool backing tracks in a fast order.
If you really want usable tracks for creating an album of any kind you will need to do quite a bit of editing or adding real musicians to the basic tracks.
I've used biab since the late 80's version 3 or so on Mac and realized right off the bat that it needed some help
With a little help and some editing and live players you can end up with some very realistic tracks! Just my observation it sure doesn't have to be yours LOL!

I just upgraded to the newest version and completed my first track with it. After the 4 bar intro you might hear a resemblance to faded love. Check it out. Never mind the web site I made my 1st attempt at it yesterday when I posted the mp3 on it. The real steel sounds better than I expected. http://www.freewebs.com/justrighttracks/funstuff.htm |

Hey Joe, nice job on your music but why not use all live instruments on it instead of just midi? If you bought the newest version of BIAB all of those parts you used could have been real sampled instruments rather than midi, but like I said good job keep up the good work!

I'm sure the track would sound better with the real instruments. I spent too much time learning how to change to and from the walking bass on the chorus and learning how to create a web page to post the track on. I'm still learning. Thanks for taking time to evaluate my track. The steel player who actually played the band in a box wave files is good. ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

Hehe, Joe I understand I wasn't putting you down in any way trust me I was just trying to help. I would be glad to help you learn how to add the audio instruments.
It basically just consists of right clicking on the part you've already created and telling biab to switch to a real audio track rather than midi. Email me anytime and I'll help you and be glad to.

Hey Bob, as far as I can tell it may not. I just came from their site where I tried to watch a demo for Mac version 12 but it kept crashing FF so I quit but I did get around 1/2 way thru and there wasn't any mention yet about real audio tracks. I'll check into it further but as of right now I'd say no. They have always stayed at least 3 or 4 versions behind the PC version for as long as I've used BIAB and I've used it since it's conception almost and started out on Mac until a few years ago. So as I learn more I'll post back.

Are the new styles compatible with the Mac version? |
Hey Bob, I talked to tech support and the Mac version does not use the real audio tracks Why? Well I don't know for sure but I'll bet ya that it is harder for the programmers to port it to Mac.
The Mac version has always been at least 2 versions behind the PC version and that was another reason it was a good switch for me back several years ago when I switched to the PC version.
They did tell me that they were working on it for Mac but it might be a while so don't hold your breath......

Hey BJ,If you call PG Music and tell them you're intereseted and ask thier advise, they will help you get started. They have always taken time to talk to me when I call. Here's the number 1 800 268 6272..
If you buy there's something you need to know, first the download is huge files and takes hours to download.and they don't always download right. So it's a good idea to spend the extra $5 for a hard copy. The hard copy will come on DVDs so you need a DVD in your PC..
Once you learn the basics you'll love it..PJ... |

Hey BJ, I'd like to day this about BIAB if you are not used to programs like it such as digital audio and midi programs you should think twice before buying BIAB. It's not something that is easily picked up if you aren't familiar with digital audio and midi applications.
If you've already used these kind of musical apps them yes I'd whole heartedly recommend it but lots of folks buy thinking that they can just press a couple of buttons and have backing tracks and they are usually disappointed.
I am in by no means trying to discourage you from learning and buying and using this application but I just wanted you to make sure you know what you are getting in to
I've seem many folks buy this and other apps like it and absolutely hate them due to the high learning curve and all the time you need to put in reading the manual and learning.
I hope you do buy it and I also hope you already know more about these apps that I am giving you credit for :>-) Good luck and happy picking!!!!

Bob-Glad to hear that you are coming along good. You have helped all of us with your posts on recordings. Maybe I'll try one of those BR 600"s like you had,or the Boss Micro BR might do for me

Hey Bob, I think they will be marked by a color of green if they are playing real audio tracks.

Charles,, I dont know what version of BB you have, but if ya go to the BB web site, they have many updates for different versions of BB. You can check there to see what versions of BB up-grades will work with what version of BB you have Etc. Also you can hear (sample) the sounds they will provide for your BB. There is a package ,,I forget the up-grade ,, that is full of country rythems Etc. It may be country shuffles No 75 ??
You can even ask online with BB people (live help online) which packages will work with what versions of BB ?
Hope this might help ya ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ steelguitarguy.com |
