Topic: Half-stop design required |

I am a newbie with a homemade PS which uses one-piece fingers.
The nut on the lowering rod holds the open tuned finger in position.
The lowering pedal moves the nut and the finger toward a tuneable back-stop thereby slackening the string.
It is possible to have more than one raise with this configuration as long as the raise rod nut allows sufficient room to perform the lowering function.
My question is, "how do I design a half-stop to get more than one lower on the same string".
Any info would be appreciated. |

If the string is lowered with a knee lever, a Shobud type unit could be used.

See the pics posted re: Steve Takacs' Kline S-12. I made a 1/2-stop that is simple, and adjustable for both tension and tuning for his guitar. The original post was by Cass Broadview.

Dave - The 1/2 stop on Steve's Kline may indeed look like an afterthought, but the guitar is so very 'loaded up' that trying to install it within the confines of its cabinet was out of the question. So I added it to the underside of the left endplate where it is immediately accessible and convenient. And it does work very well. Once these 1/2 stops are installed and tuned/adjusted, they rarely if ever have to be adjusted save for a horribly-out-of-gage string or a deliberate change in gage.

Hey Richard you're the man on this side of the pond and Paul Redmond on the other side for modifications. I know you both pretty well. Richard that double lower you machined up for me for my Carter universal's 2nd string lower is the biz...so accurate and no overshoot on the first lower. Good men both of you
