Hi Tom, I remember when you stopped by my booth in Texas and signed the birthday greeting book and card I had there for Jerry Byrd. The absolute attention you gave to Jerry when you contemplated on what to tell him was very impressive to me. I could really see how you felt about him. Thanks for stopping by and doing that for Jerry. (He, Jerry, sent me a very nice letter in thanks for that).
Now, I have the same opportunity to offer you those same wishes. Many happy returns.
See you in Dallas,
Your friend,
Bill Stafford |

Happy birthday Tom.You were always one of my favorites..But It's all your fault that I gpt hooked on the Pedal Steel. Thanks to an old Army buddy/musicain of yours SGT Jim Whitted. We played together in VirginiaMaryland area when he was stationed at Ft Meade. The last time I saw Jim was Up in Pikesville,Kentucky about 20 years ago.And the last time I saw you live was when Ricky and the Stone Canyon band was still going..That was in Maryland back in '75. We are getting older but we're getting finer.
An aguaintence by proxy.

Happy Birthday Tom. Your the reason I'm playing steel today. I caught you in several shows back in the 60"s ans early 70"s and was hooked. I've figured out most of the songs you played back then including pedal patter and have a ball playing them. Thanks for the insperation. |
