Topic: common uses for 4th pedal |

I am just wander what are some common uses for a 4th pedal that lowers strings 5,6, and 10. I seen this somewhere on the forum, when researching different copedents.

My pedal 4 is the 'Isaacs pedal' - it has, in my opinion, far more musical potential than the 5,6 and 10 'lower'.
(The 'Isaacs' pull raises the 5th a tone and the 6th a half-tone - in effect it's like using your A and B pedals, but leaving the 10th as a B note, and the 3rd as a G#; great for '4 over 5' chords and yet another great way to get a '4 Maj 7th' at the 'zero fret'.)

Hey Roger, Thanks for the great idea!
I play a universal and my last pedal is the normal universal change; the 5th sting to C# and the 6th string to A#. I'm just learning how to use it and it always seemed in the back of my mind that a AB pedal type raise at the end of those B6 pedals would make sense, but not until your post did it occur to me to just bring the 6th string down to A. It really opens up a bunch of new stuff!

I have 5,6 and 10 lowering a whole tone. I don't find it all that useful. I guess I'll need to spend more time with it. A week or so back, I heard Russ Hicks using his zero pedal raising the 6th string a tone and a half. Man did that ever sound cool.

Another less-than-conventional pull I enjoy is raising the 6th string a whole tone (G# to A#) on my LKV (rather than the usual 6th lower) - it's very interesting in conjunction with my A pedal and lowering my Es, and a similar effect to the 7th pedal on C6th.

| Lets you know where 3 and 5 are at. They are on each side. Also pedal 4 divides the top neck from the bottom neck. |
