reece,
i was looking at this m.s.a vintage xl on ebay
and looking at the changer end it's seems to me that
it looks like a DBL LOWER & DBL RAISE?? i thought
that vintage xl where triple raise and triple lower
did m.s.a ever make a vintage xl with DBL RAISE OR
DBL LOWER?? i don't have the ser# number yet on this guitar...

Hi Paul....I apologize for my delayed response. My computer completely crashed so I have spent most of the past week getting a new one and installing the information that was left.

In answer to your question, yes the guitar shown is a double raise and double lower. Yes there were VXL's that were double raise and double lower. I still have a Universal which I converted to the triple system.

If you will post the serial number I will try to provide you more information.

Bo.....serial number 1C6143 shows to be a burgandy single 10 with a pad, and it left the factory with 3 pedals and 4 knee levers. Its original destination was Washington Music. Sorry, but the specific date of completion was not entered into record.

It was on ebay, then the auction was cancelled. The owner thought it had been a D10 but I could see it was not.
Donny, is that thing in the center of the underside a "feel stop"? I didn't think Bud ever used one like that.

Yes, a "feel stop", also sometimes called a "half stop". It was probably added by someone years after the guitar was made.
