its hard to see where the bar is above the 12th so you might not have it exackly where you think you do
or it might not be straight across the fret
it take's a lot of pratice above the 12th fret to sound as good as you do on the lower register

Bob, Calvin is right on IMO. It takes way more work to sound good above the 12th fret. As to lining up the bar with the fret I make sure I sit with the middle of my body in line with the 15th fret.

Another thing it seems, is that whenever we play up there in Hughey land, we can't help but think of him and hear in our mind how he sounds.

Bob

There is another item not mentioned above and that is
your amp EQ settings - I no nothing about your amp but
on my Steel King it helps to find a balance between lower
neck work and high end -- above the 15th fret -- sometimes
what sounds good on the lower end will give you an almost
harmonic overtone quality high up the neck .

this don't help any of us for our intonation but may help you
to try it in Houghey land .

Thanks Bob fo the Info. I tried backing off on the highs and It did help. I found from the other replies that sitting further to the right helped as Iguess I wasn't exactly on the mark. Thanks alot. Lot to learn about steelen. Bob Graff

There will always be a lot to learn about steelin’! It will never end. You learn something every time you sit behind your guitar, even though it might take a little more time to realize some things! Eventually that little light comes ON! And you say: “Oh, Yeah”!

Try to rely on your ear more than eye, i'ts against human nature , i know, you will be alright.
Might try a smaller bar too!
