I just acquired a 60's National Grand Console double 8 in very nice shape over all. The body sections are black and white and the fret boards are clear with gold foil looking thunderbirds. There is just the usual lighter paint underneath the peghead covers, and years of grunge in all the crevices. It's been well taken care of. It's just dirty.
There is no rust or pitting on the chrome, and all the paint, logo and all, is good, and intact on the chrome. I just want to clean everything very well, and wonder if I should try McGuires polish, or something similar on the paint, or just stick to mild soapy water.
Same with the chrome parts. What will clean the chrome and logo without damaging it?
Thanks.

Yes that stuff works great!!....on paint...I like the McGuires "color Rx" is can be used on any color and it has a great finished look.

The metal parts are not chrome, they are polished aluminum with a clear coat. Be carful with them, maybe take them off and clean with dish soap and a soft tooth brush, the writing comes off that stuff very easy.

Good luck!!!

Jim,
Thanks. It sure is shiny as chrome.
I'll be careful.
