Earlier this year I played a gig with Mickey Adams who had brought a NV400 with the Ken Fox mod. Over the years I've owned 5 NV400's with two having the Lemay mod.
After playing one set on my regular amp Mickey says hook it up you gotta hear it so I did and I was knocked out by the great tone this amp had.
Months later and after threatening to tell Mickey's Ex-wife where he lives he sold it to me and I couldn't be happier.
I just played a job where we let a guy in the audience sit in and after the set he walks up and said his dad was a steel player who used a NV1000 and that he was blown away by the tone and even the reverb of this NV400.
I've had people comment on my playing but never directly on a particular amp before.
If you're thinking of getting the mod then quit thinking and do it. |

Ditto to everything Dick said...Ken's modification makes those amps sound like they're on steroids!
Thanks Ken (and Ruth for allowing him to spend so much time in his shop)for your hard work and making old amps so so great! |

I brought 3 tube amps to Ken that needed some TLC.. Spent the day with him and it was like a PhD in tube-ology. IMHO Ken is one of the many treasures we have in steel guitar forum-land..

Ken is an execllent technician, and guitar player. He a straight up and fair guy. But, his wife Ruth request songs that only maybe Lawrence Welk has heard of. LOL |

Ken did a complete mod to my old Nash-400, and I was very pleased with the sound improvment. Then I replaced the old stock Black Widow magnet with a new Peavey Neo-magnet and the amp lost five pounds in weight. Great sound, less weight, plenty power, and in a 15" speaker enclosure. Thanks Ken! |

I gotta ditto all the nice things said about Ken. He did my 400 over a year ago and my next amp will be another one just like it for a spare. Yes I agree, Ken is a treasure. Thanks and Happy Trails to the man. Mike C. |
