On the web they sell decals that look like bullet holes... It would look great with a real hole in the guitar!
You could always make up a story like "the previous owner was shot by his angry mistress"

I do this pictured; with the steels that the owners doesn't want the knobs there anymore.
They are chrome caps you can get at Home depot.

So, Ricky. The owner didn't want the fretboard, either??? |

Hey Lee; the owner is a bluegrass musician and therefore he has "Perfect pitch"....ha...
"actually still waiting for that fretboard"..ah..ha.> but one can actually string up and set up a guitar underneath without the fretboard....yeee haaaa...but yes; it would be desirable to have a fretboard once you place the bar on them strings...ha...

I know this is a bit off topic, but I have a late model LDG (bought used) with FIVE of those chrome caps in the "C6th" side of the changer end plate. Does anyone have any ideas as to WHY they might be there?? I can't come up with any! |

Brint; only thing I can come up with is that someone drilled holes for some freakish reason....then they we're capped.
Maybe for some added switches or whatever...but it certainly did not come with any of that when made.
Do you have pictures of that end plate and the inside of the endplate??? Let's see it or email them to me and I'll put'um up.

I had a Zum sd12 with a hole between the neck and the pad. I put a small concho in it. I thought it looked pretty nice. |

I have a steel that someone drilled a hole in the deck for a pickup selector switch for a GeorgeL 12-5 pickup.
As fate would have it, the GeorgeL tuning wrench fits perfectly in that hole (not too snug, not too loose). So I have been leaving my tuning wrench in there for now (I'll post a pic when I get a chance).
I would rather cover it with a small plaque or something cool like that bullet hole. |

Howard, cool idea on the concho. I will check that out.
Pete, just put a concho on your tuning wrench, then you have all bases covered! |

Ricky, I know they're not original! I just can't imagine why somebody did this, unless they just thought it looked cool. (I bought the guitar on consignment from Scotty's, and they had no idea.)

Sorry Spencer; I forgot you're in London....yes B&Q is the place there man....
Brint; I can see several things that one can put there...>like of course a couple of switches...and volume and tone pot and also an effect....like a boss tone....all that could of been wired in at one time...that the player wanted to access switching in and out of those functions.

I must confess I am the Bluegrass Musician that Ricky Davis mentioned...
You know “Perfect Pitch” is defined as throwing a banjo in a dumpster from 30 yards and not hitting either side of it…
Looking forward to getting my 6139 back from Ricky and know it will be first class since Ricky put it together with John Coop parts. _________________ Tim Woodall
