Jim, very impressive and a fresh approach to the instrument! I took a look at your website and see that you have an extensive background in many instruments and genres other than country music. Could you tell us about some of the things that influenced you to get into steel guitar? Just curious. Thanks and good luck with the CDs.

Hey Jim - It's about time you started talking up this CD!!!
This is among the most refreshing and engaging steel-involved projects I've heard in a looooong time. The only thing that compares was getting to hear these guys live which was one of the real high points of my recent live music listening experiences.
It's steel guitar in a whole different realm than where it usually goes. The closest project I can think of is David Phillip's work with Curvature a few years back. And, of course, none of this would mean much if the playing wasn't top notch. Everyone in this band is great.
HIGHLY recommended! (Unless, of course, you're among those who believe that steel guitar stopped evolving with A Way To Survive...) |

I've got the CD and it's really good; a really great blend of cool instrumentation and really diverse material which all fits together really well.
Jim's been a major presence here on a lot of different instruments for years, I knew when he started playing steel he'd find a way to bring something new and different to it.
Haven't caught one of Otto's live gigs yet but plan to! |

I agree completely Brick! I also just ordered the cd "OTTO".
Just cruising around Jim Hoke's website, reading his bio, discography and listening to his mp3 samples, showed me that this is a dedicated artist with many talents. Amazing! |

Ok, been playing this nonstop for several days now. It is the most interesting music I've heard in quite a while. Otto's version of "Friday on my Mind" done as Klezmer, is just flat out brilliant. The overtones created by the vibes and the steel together is just a flat out new tone. I'm VERY impressed. How about a west coast tour?
If you are tired of same old same old, and have an adventurous musical taste , you will like this.
This is the chamber music of the future. |

I just got my copy and have been playing it nonstop. This is something very special. Jim has thrust himself into the forefront of the progressive steel guitar movement with this wonderful groundbreaking achievement.
I just ordered 3 more copies to give to friends. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.
