Hi Folks,

Just saw Martin Scorsese's concert pic of the Rolling Stones this weekend --it's called "Shine a Light".

Ronnie Wood broke out an old Emmons push-pull at one point, which was nice to see. It got plenty of screen time.

If I recall correctly, Mick even made reference to it as "that strange machine"!

Anyway... it made me smile. -GV

This movie reminded me what a great band The Stones are. Ok, Ron ain't the best psg player, but it was still pretty cool seein and hearin it on the big screen. And it REALLY was Ron playin, not a double.
I watched it on a trans-atlantic flight comin home in August, and then again on my flight back two weeks later.
Only real hiccup (IMHO) was Jack White. Thank God for fast-forward.

agreed on the Jack White portion. I understand they wanna get whoever is hot and hip up there with em but um...dude could not sing the song, not even close. That crazy "whooop whoop" Jagger did before Sympathy was the only other cringe worthy moment for me in anotherwise excellent film/concert. Saw it at an Imax, so Jack Whites pancake make-up was three stories tall Whoa!

I enjoyed that movie immensely...Scorcese really knows how to present live music on the screen (The Last Waltz is his masterpiece, IMHO)...if you can, see the movie in a theater with a good sound system...Charlie Watts' drums sound amazing.

Yeah Ronnie's playing is pretty rough --but his heart is in the right place.

He should quit the Stones so he has more time to woodshed on the PSG. Then he can enjoy all the $$$ and chicks that steel players...

er... what a sec...

Ronnies playing makes even me feel better about my own playing, but I think its terrific they had him do it when they easily could have gotten a red-hot side player to do it. The Stones are my all time favorite band and a big part of their appeal to me has always been the rough and raw musicality. Keith isnt the best technical guitar player, but he's still one of my favorites.

Keith and Ron fit together like Buck and Don. They are a perfect team.
