Topic: National Amp-model number please |

Hello folks:
All the years I've had this National amplifier, I never realized that the model number on the nameplate is damaged. I would like to order the schematic, and I need the modeal number. Can somebody advise please?

Hi George,
I am afraid that I do not know your amp's model number.
Most schematics for the Valco/Supro/National amps have to be taken with a grain of salt. Changes were made to the electronics on a continuous basis. Most experts claim to find inconsistencies on nearly every one.
I can suggest that with the CSA marking on the rear plate, your amp was probably built fairly late in the history of Valco/Supro/National amps.

Thanks Sam. Fortunately, most good techies recognize simple amplifier circuits, so I don't think I'll have any problem.

It's a National Studio 10 from the 'Westwood' series.
Order no. N6410, 8" speaker, three tubes, 5 watts.

Rick's right, that's an early '60s amp called the "Model 10", or sometimes "Studio 10". It came with an 8" speaker, and had a single ended 6V6, and as I recall, was rated at about 5 watts. In the late and mid '60s, with only cosmetic changes, it became the Model 6410. Despite only having one control and a small speaker, it's easily worth a few hundred dollars.
I'm pretty sure I have a schematic. If you can tell me the tube numbers, I can find it and email it to you. |
