Can anyone tell me what Jerry Byrd's tuning is in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nudiAFnbYg0

Thanks. It's some kind of 7th I think (or maybe C6 with a C# in the bass, giving you A7th on the bottom 4 strings...am I close?).

Regards,

Blake

Thanks for the responses. Well, no surprise that Jerry is using the Jerry tuning, eh? I asked a somewhat dumb question that I somewhat knew the answer to simply because I was doubtful that Jerry would use such a high tuning (and correspondingly lighter gauge strings) on an acoustic guitar. I was trying to play the tune on my resonator (tuned first to open G, then rather precariously tuned up to open A) and realized pretty quick that wasn't right. After posting this question, I played along with my C6 Gibson BR-6, tuned up the low C to C#, and there it is.

I've never tried a C6 string set on my resonator. Maybe it's time to try it out? Any specific sets anyone would recommend? I've been using SIT's C6th on my electrics.

Aloha All,
I played JB's Chickadee at tha HSGA convention last week, and it was per his tabs, It is really just like the recording, not my playing, but the arrangement.
But the convention was great, as allways, Cheney was terriffic.

Is that bottom C# tuned low or high in relation to the other strings?

It is tuned low. If memory serves, it is a 34 Guage string tuned 1/2 step higher than it would be in a normal C6 tuning.
