I have this picture of Duane staring intently into...what, a ten pound tuner?
It's too weird to be an amp. Except, his eyes are closed.... |

I can't really make it out but it is the general size & shape of a tuner a guitarist I worked with a couple of times recently brought out to gigs---I can't recall now if it was a Heathkit or a .....I'm drawing a blank now. Funny thing is that he needed to borrow my Korg CA-30 because his crate was rattling inside and didn't work. I think it was tube based. Which of course means that he sounds really good when tuning up...I guess.
Even before he found his box inoperable I had already made fun of him for carrying his absurdly large thing----I'm sorry but the only reason to bring something like that to a dive bar is to impress your bandmates (which it failed do). It surely isn't because only old analogue tuners make your guitar sound right.
Cracked me very much up. |

Has to be a tuner of some kind. He is hitting a harmonic on the 1st string by the look of it. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I don't think his eyes are closed, he's just looking down. Probably a Petersen strobe tuner. |

I agree with Skip!
Curiosity got the better of me, so I opened the image in Photoshop and after a few adjustments could see the front panel layout looks just like the old brown Conn.
How about the beautiful old LP Standard that Duane has!
That's some serious flame maple on the top. =)
I wonder who has that now? |

Here's my Conn Strobe Tuner. Best tuner I've got. Definitely more accurate than my Boss!

Hey Steve,
Thanks for the tip!
I really need to visit the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame one of these days ...
