| Nice article, Joey. It's great to see the instrument being taken seriously. I liked Jerry's comment on the dobro being a hard instrument. It is. I played one for over thirty years and it's the most difficult instrument I've every attempted. In my "old age" I've given it up and gone to my lap steel. For me it's much easier to play, yet I can get a lot of the same effects. |

amen ....to the dobro/reso being a hard instrument...
I play.......but, when I hear jerry douglas...makes me want to throw mine in the trash......
oh well....I do enjoy it and have fun playing with my old retired buds.....

Got to see Jerry a week ago at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco with his incredible band.
Jerry was pretty pumped by the size of the crowd at this great festival. He flat tore it up.
Jerry is 52, and really enjoying his greatest success ever these days. This as we all know is pretty rare in the music industry. Of course when he joined Alison Krauss & Union Station as a permanent member 10 years ago a lot of folks developed an awareness for him (and the dobro) that hadn't been there before.
I've been following his music since he was about 20, and I'm really happy that his career has worked out so well. Plus he is a real nice fellow, and living proof that contrary to what Leo Durocher once said, nice guys can finish first!
