Mike, I'd like to take the time to thank you right here and now for all the hard work you put forth getting your show ready, and for keeping it country!
I recieved your email that you recieved the promo copy of my new cd. Thanks for the kind words. Maybe there's someone out there who is looking for origional Real Country material. Between myself and our mutual friend, Jerry webb, and other songwriters, we can make it happen. I have heard from a reliable source, that programers are constantly looking for new material to play. Lets face it if a DJ is going to play "The Other Woman" He'll probably play Ray Price, and if It's "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down", It's going to be Charlie Walker. Can't blame them either. You'd think with all the good stuff coming out with some of the newer Real Country artists, there would be a huge market for new material. Your show is credited for exposing the writing talents of songwriters who still write like it was 1964. Thank You!! |

Chuck
You have hit the nail on the head.
Mike is a one-of-a-kind and has helped many of us including myself as he plays my songs and many others who never would be heard if it were not for him.
Thanks so much Mike.

Chuck,
Thanks so very much for the bump and especially the kind words, buddy. They are really appreciated!
Since you brought up your upcoming CD let me say that it has some really awesome Western Swing, Texas dance hall shuffles and country music like country should sound. On top of all that there are your wonderful songs, vocals and Ft. Worth's "A" Team. Yes, either Buddie Hrabal or Ronnie Miller on Steel. It is hard to beat those guys. I will start to play the new CD on my shows soon as I tape the shows a few weeks in advance. _________________ Mike |

Don,
Thanks for your bump and kind words. I didn't mean to miss you in the previous post but I guess yours came in while I was responding to Chuck and I noticed it when I already was on board with my previous post. _________________ Mike |

"I LIKE MIKE" That should be a bumper sticker. Mike, if you get ready to run for president of REAL COUNTRY MUSIC, you have my vote! No matter what the economy does, there will always be someone wanting to hear Ray Price, Bob Wills, Mel Tillis, Faron Young, Conway Twitty, Charley Pride,.....ect. Keep up the good work!
I recorded more Western Swing on this last album than before, but it is one of my main loves, and thirty years ago live bands didn't get to play a lot of Swing. The Club owners didn't get it, and a lot of customers wanted more current (top forty) tunes.
In those days Top Forty had more good songs to offer, and bands didn't mind learning good songs. I guess someone likes the new Top Forty music being played on "Country Radio stations', but I won't waste electricity waiting to hear a song I'm going to like. If it weren't for Mike Gross, and other "Streamers", and now ((XM)) "Willies Place", guys like me wouldn't be able to record and have our stuff listened to. Unfortunatly, I have to come to the library to access the internet, and I'm not allowed to turn speakers on, so I don't actually get to listen to Mikes show, but I pass the word to folks who can. I encourage anyone out there to do the same. Thanks again MIKE!! |
