Apple iTunes 8 crashing Windows Vista computers

Several news sources and the Apple Discussions Forum are reporting that after installing the newly released iTunes 8.0 software onto a Windows Vista PC, then connecting an iPod or iPhone, the system will crash to a BSOD. Apple has investigated the issue and pinpointed the problem that is caused by one third party driver file. A fix has been posted to the Apple Download site and should be applied by any Windows Vista users who use iTunes, Quicktime, or MobileMe.

If your PC was affected by this BSOD issue after upgrading iTunes, please read and follow the instructions on this Apple Support page, then use their download link to obtain the patched iTunes 8 software.
