I was just contacted by a nice lady that has a Sho Bud Professional I (S10) and a Sho Bud Professional II (D10) for sale in pristine condition.
She "inherited" these instruments from a "good friend" and was going to send me pictures so that I could give an estimate of what what they were worth but I told her that because I am new to the instrument that I wouldn't know the value and I didn't want to take advantage of her.
If anyone is interested in either of these instruments or 2 Peavey Nashville 1000 amps (and more musical instruments than she could name), then email me for her contact information. She lives in the South Eastern United States and would prefer not to ship these instruments if at all possible.
By the way, does this forum have an established rate for a finders fee??

I have been flooded by emails about this posting in this short amount of time. I'm not going to release any contact information for the steel guitars until my question about a finders fee is addressed.

If you and the owner are not knowledgeable about the value of steel guitars and amps, you might first solicit opinions about the value of the items. Then you can sell them either by posting a price and selling to the first buyer who guarantees to buy each item. Or you can post a suggested price and sell to the best offer. Just be very clear about which method you are using. |

I'm not personally selling the items on ebay, I'm not personally selling the items on the forum, I'm simply offering the contact information of the current owner to potential buyers.
If there is no standing policy on finders fees that will be paid to the member for "finding" an instrument then I will only offer the contact information to the people that offer one to myself and a 2.5% standard contribution to the forum in place of the sellers contribution fee.
If the forum policy is not to reward someone that finds steel guitars for sale then I apologize for posting here. |

Yeah---hard to imagine anything more horrifying than offering to help a lady out and pass along good info to a steel community (that has never done anything for you, has it?) for free. Probably ought to add, oh, I dunno, 25% off of the top of the deal for your troubles. |

At least I didn't help myself by ripping her off and lowballing her on a price now did I? Do you think that a dealer would just let her set it in his showroom? hmmmm .. let me think, NO .. do you think that I should lowball her and sell it here for a huge profit?
what have you personally done for me for free? what have you personally done for anyone for free? my guess would be nothing with that attitude...

And how much of that advice for my SON did you offer .. not a bit from what I recall... Boys were in the south a long time ago and only in Brooklyn now
Anytime you are in a community like this you get the active posters that actually help people out, the TROLLS (where you fit in with this post), and the people that just lay back and read ... If any person that actually helped out when I had questions asked for the contact information I would be glad to give it to them .. NO QUESTIONS ASKED .. but you won't get it, for obvious reasons |

Only one problem, I would like to see the forum get something out of it .. hmmmmm ..
I think ebay might be the best idea of all, I don't get anything .. the forum doesn't get anything .. and we could close this discussion for good |

I help any member here on the forum if and when I can.Whether this member has been on the forum since the beginning or just for one day...it does not make a difference.
I have been a member on and off since the first day.b0b can probably still look up his old records.
I was a member when Mikey Douchette, Mike Weirauch, Chris Brooks and a couple were amongst the first forum members.

Donald not to say a lot....but....why did you post them on here if you were not to release any info?
Not releasing any info is going on the street saying......man I know where they sell ice cream for a dime a cone....and then say....but I'm not going to tell you where.
You want a finders fee........and the forum states a 2.5% fee for every sell on the forum or related to the forum.Where does the forum come in the picture here?

You have been helpful to me thus far, and I very much appreciate it.. as a matter of fact, if you want the contact information .. no problem.
There are just so many people in any community that won't contribute to the community .. and hey, I've spent hours and hours trying to find a suitable instrument for my son. I don't know what these guitars are worth, thus I didn't want to advise her on it .. or take advantage of her by buying them from her at a low price. Again, I didn't want someone else taking advantage of her either by giving out her contact information in this public forum.
Since I made this post I see the mistakes that I have made and apologize to all the members that frown on me for these mistakes. I know in the future that if I find a steel guitar for sale, that I will contact the people that have helped me out in the past (like yourself) to see if they would be interested in purchasing the guitar before I advise the owner to list it on ebay.
I stated in a post above that I would like an offer of a finders fee for myself (I didn't ask for any percentage, I was just leaving this up to the potential buyer) because I have spent so many hours searching for steel guitars and a guarantee that the buyer will contribute the sellers contribution of 2.5% to the forum if they buy one of these guitars.. that is where the forum comes into it..

No kidding, I told her what Ron said about $400 to $600 and that she might be better off listing the maverick on ebay... She is supposed to send pictures of the other steel guitar when her husband gets home .. it's too heavy for her to pick up. |

My feeling is that if you are trying to make a buck off the sale of this lady's items, you should charge her a fee to sell it. Why on earth would you try to charge the buyer of the item a fee, when there are hundreds of other guitars that are for sale on the market, and most of them are not selling because of the economy.
You should seriously re-think your intentions. Also you should advise her that if you do sell her steel here on the forum, then b0b is owed 2.5 percent.
If you sell on ebay you will pay alot more than that in fees. and most likely get ripped off if you are not used to how to sell the item, how to take payment, and how to ship so there is a record of it and avoid a costly chargeback which might result in the loss of both steel and money.
Also, the way I see it, you are placing yourself in the position to be responsible for anything that is inacurate about this guitar, or any problems that occur with its sale. Are you willing to take on that responsibility for guitars you hardly know nothing about?
If I were you I would be posting hey Forum members, I found two guitars that I know nothing about. This lady is trying to sell them, I have no idea about the condition, but here is her contact information if you want more questions...
