Looks like a BR-6 with a special ivory finish, similar to a BR-9. The serial number would indicate 1957 production. An attractive and possibly unique instrument that appears to be in exceptional condition.
Perhaps Mr. Jackson, or another of the Forum's resident experts on old Gibsons, will chime in with additional information. |

In my opinion, John and Richard are correct. I believe this steel is a 1957 Gibson BR-6B variant. Duchossoir confirms that "...shipping totals reveal the existence of models like the Century Deluxe or the BR-6B that were shipped between 1956 and 1959, whereas they never appeared in regular catalogs and price-lists." George Gruhn states that BR-6B specs were unavailable, but 77 were shipped 1956-1959.
This Gibson BR-6B is a beautiful steel and the price seemed reasonable to me.
I own and am pleased with a Gibson BR-6: c.1950.
