I have a guitar amp for sale/trade on Craigslist and a guy offered to trade me his Emmons Lashley LeGrand 600 steel guitar amplifier...I've never heard of these and having difficulty finding any info on it.
Any opinions on this amp and its possible value? _________________ RC's myspace

Using the old music store formula we often used on used gear, $800 (1/2 retail +~10%. If it's a tweaky collectors item then all bets are off. If it's sitting with no customer interest, then less. Hope that helps.
I'd be interested in learning more about these amps. I like the features, I wonder what it sounds like? |

They sound ok, but are very heavy at about 65 lbs. Two spring reverb is pretty weak.
About $300 to $350 |

David's price is probably close. If it was $1395 retail then the 50% of retail for dealers cost and used about 50% of that for used, depending on condition is a good "guesstimate" price.
Emmons had another amp, in the early 70's. That one was made by Standel for Emmons (I've worked on several of those). I'm not sure who made this newer model and probably totally wrong, but for some reason Genz-Benz seems to ring a bell. |

I wouldn't be suprised if Tube Works didn't make these amps for Emmons.
At the time these amps were available, Emmons also was selling some other Tube Works stuff.
Tube Works was eventually obtained by Genz-Benz. |

For some reason, I thought Risson made some amps for Emmons...but I might be wrong.

Jack is totally correct! Genz-Benz, the same producer of Mosvalve, made the chassis for the Emmons Legrande 600 Amps. |

I played thru one of those at Scottys a few years back.It had the carpet covering.I think Scotty said it was made by tubeworks. It sounded ok,,,nothing special at all.I seem to recall that the reverb wasn,t all that great.Thomas Malugin |
