I helped set up a series of seminars back in the 1970's for Reece Anderson. It was the first venture of this type to take place in the UK to my knowledge. Maurice just blew us all away with his sheer musicianship. No bluffing on any of the chords, incredible technique and sheer mastery of the universal tuning.

I have dug out some old photos from that time. I don't know who the young drummer is - he depped in at the last minute at a venue in Coventry. Previously I had got Clem Cattini to play drums in London (by kind courtesy of John Edmed), and the superb Larry Tolfree to play in Southampton. Larry went to to make a name for himself in the pop and rock field, but to this day he enthuses about Reece's jazz and swing playing.

Here is a picture of Reece with the late and wonderful Jess Hudson on guitar - what a great character.

Here is Reece with bass player Mark (surname escapes me) and unknown English drummer.

Here is Jess admiring Reece's playing and holding down a G chord.

Great time and great memories. Among the steel players in the audience at Southampton was a 10 year old pupil of mine - Sarah Jory, along with her mum and dad.

I think you are right - that surname rings a bell. He was a very good player and sung a bit too. When I saw Reece in Dallas earlier this year, he said that Mark had retired from the music business.
