While working around the house today, Willie's Place played 'Another' by Roy Drusky.....I have always liked this song and I still do not know who played steel on the recording....my guess is Jimmy Day but I admit, it is just a guess....also the 1960 (+ or -} recording by Red Sovine...OOOOOH, How I love You.....is it Buddy?????
As a last comment.....while driving home last evening, Willie's Place played 'I Love You Because' by Leona Williams......without doubt, it featured Bobby Flores on fiddle and Dicky Overbey on steel..........simply wonderful. I was in the house less than 5 minutes before I ordered it on Leona's website.......trust me.....MONEY WELL SPENT!!!!!! Give it a listen. REAL COUNTRY MUSIC! Leon Payne would have been very proud. |

On the Red Sovine track, I think it may be Buddy Emmons. |
I would guess it's Sonny Burnett. He was Webb Pierce's Steel Player and Red Sovine Was Fronting Webb's Band and Recording on his own about that time mid to late 50's....It also sounds like Sonny to me. |
