I got his new CD yesterday and it's GREAT!! Every tune is good.
Full of Paul Franklins' sparkly pedal steel work. There are 2 very Waylon sounding tunes that have Paul playing his very best Mooney type licks. It is very impressive.
There is a beautiful slow tune on it that musically quotes Djangos' "Clouds" at the head of the intro.
While it is not all 3 chord simple, it is real country.
The session players are the A team plus Larry Franklin's fiddle and J Yudkins' violin, viola, and cello.
Not sure why it took over a year to get released.. the liner notes are full of typos..(chello)
My 2cents
