ENDANGERED OPERA
Excerpts from operas that may never get produced!
WHO: Music by LISA KARRER, DAVID SIMONS and DENMAN MARONEY
WHERE: Galapagos Art and Performance Space - Stephanie Griffin, curator

~ Simons will present the premiere of "THE VENUS FACTOR" for a 7 piece
ensemble.
The libretto is drawn from the controversial book "Worlds in Collision" by
Velikovsky, whose catastrophe theories were ridiculed by the scientific
establishment in the 1950's, and now seem vindicated.
~ Maroney presents "LAMENTATIONS OF AN OLD PENSIONER", a work from his
song cycle
based on the poetry of W.B. Yeats, arranged for a 7 piece ensemble.
~ Other music to include "PRESTIDIGITATION" in which Simons controls a
sampler from
his Theremin; the enchanted car wreck "MOON RIVER"; and "THE GOD OF MUD"
from the
Simons/Karrer opera "THE BIRTH OF GEORGE". The score for "THE BIRTH OF
GEORGE"

Kathleen Fischer (voice), Darryl Gregory (trombone), Stephanie Griffin
