I just spent the last 30 minutes on the phone with a very nice, very helpful, and very excited Barry Thomas!

It is no rumor now that Barry is about 30 days away from starting to build guitars again in (Chikasaw Ok?) He is getting ready to move in the machinery as we speak.
Mr. Thomas is very proud of his guitars and so he should be. In speaking with him you can tell he has a passion for guitar building.
So get ready; you can get a brand new Thomas pretty soon. Greg

Great news. If you speak to him again, ask him if George is coming out there to set his machines up.

I've had mine 12 years now. It still plays great, no mechanical problems, and sounds better than ever (with a Truetone pickup)

Out of the blue Barry Thomas called me last night just to give me more info about my guitar and how there are built and any issues it may have. Another 30 minute of unsolicited info. This guy is amazing. Are most builders so passionate about their product and their customers satisfaction??

YES!!.......they all are.

Good to hear that Barry is up and at it again. The steel guitars he build are great.Smooth as butter, good action,detailed.....and one of the most important things....they stay in tune for ages.

Most builders seem to be passionate about their guitars and customer service. However, I have to wonder why Barry just dropped out of sight with little or no notice for 12+ years leaving some of his customers worrying about service and parts. I realize he had personal issues at the time but so does everyone else.

Alan,

Barry and I do not know each other and this is not to attack you Alan but sometimes people have to do what they have to do.Whether this is caused by Illness or family circumstances.
My advice to you is therefor that if you don't know the real reason about Barry's leave of absence you should not mention it in this post.

If all....we should be happy for Barry that he is up and running again.I don't know the man but I am happy for him.I only hear got things about Thomas guitars.
If you can build a guitar and have not one negative on your name(after 12years) then you must be doing something right.
More power to Barry for all his efforts and good advice that he Still Did give over the phone.

I hope that we are going to see more Thomas Guitars in the near future.
Once again Alan....this is not meant to strike back at you.Look at it as some advice.

I'm pretty excited about this. Barry's steels are great & I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about them.
