With 12 strings, finding your position with the picking hand quickly can be frustrating if you don't have a reference point. At my sitting position, the 7th string is roughly centered over the single row of dots on the MSA SuperSlide. This is a fast way of finding strings when playing tab. Just base your position off of string 7!

I believe all of these tabs are useful to learn even though some are just scales or short exercises. Eventually, you will find the mystery of this 12 string sea of strings melt away if you internalize the scales and open string references used here. Just give your brain time to absorb these while playing them blindly. Over time you will begin to connect the pockets of notes together into one continuous fretboard.

Your pedal steel playing will benefit greatly by playing these tabs and blocking them cleanly. Most of my C6th pedal steel playing uses very little pedals. Learn some of the stuff posted here and when you go back to the pedal guitar, you will be able to double your library of riffs!
