Nov.8th, 2008 is the next date I'll be looking at for our next Mississippi Steel Players Classic Country/Steel Guitar show. I've had to find a different location and move the show. Our original location, Laurel VFW is closing its doors in September. Nov.8th is not definitely confirmed yet but it shoudn't be a problem. Our new location for future MSP events will more than likely be the American Legion Hall in Laurel, MS. Across from the high school. I'm also moving our events to Saturdays from 2pm till midnight. Players/singers wanting to perform need to either email me or call me at 601-752-2037(leave a message, I'll call you back). We're hoping to have an even larger turnout that the first MSP show we did last August. Steelers that don't want to haul an amp can use those we'll have at the show if they want to. Usually plenty of NV-400's and 112's available. My Steel King is also available, as well as, one of my Magnum's, in case someone wants to use it. Not a problem. More later. Thanks. |

Be glad to have you, RJ. Hope everything's ok since the wreck. I'll put you in the 5:30pm to 6:00pm slot. EXCEL will be well represented. Bring your lead guitar also. If the time frame is not good for you just pick one. Your first on the list so far. Thanks. |

Hey Billy.....Just checked my Schedule and it looks like I'm not booked with the band I'm presently working with.......Trent Spencer and "The Fly By Nite Band"! Would like a slot to play and maybe do some back-up playing for singers, like we talked about last year if that's still going to happen. Will bring my own amp system......as that's what has given me my sound for the last 5 years.....If there's anything else I can do, please let me know. Looking forward to it........HAL _________________ HAL...Excel D-10 w/ 8 & 5. Two Gentleman that inspired the steelers of the now steel guitar world Mr. Johnnie Bonvillian and Mr. John Hughey John told me [RJ Buras] That it was Johnnie Bonvillian that inspired him to play . John said he would listen to him on the radio making that steel sing.

Anybody that comes with you is invited to sing/play, RJ. Maybe Joe can make the Nov.7th & Nov.8th shows. MSP is having two shows so we can get everybody in to perform. Hoping you can make one of the shows, Howard. Be glad to have you anytime. Buck Grantham is on board now for the 3:30pm slot on Nov. 8th. Tommy "The Legend" Fortenberry is also coming in for both shows. He'll be a busy fellow. MSP shows are Classic Country featuring steel guitar out front on each song. We also have an open dancefloor that'll probably stay full after about 8:00pm till midnight. Steel players wanting to play a set without a singer are welcome. Players choice. We'll have around 20 MSP staff musicians/singers available plus everybody else that's coming. I'm sure I'll be adding more names this weekend, as we're now working on the Nov.7th schedule. Nov.8th is already full for the second show. Anyone wanting to bring anything to trade, sell or just display is welcome. Let me know and I'll have you a spot. More info. coming! |

Today, I've added Tommy Sullivan as our Nov.7th MC for the show. He'll also be singing that night and the following night as well. Steel player Ted Hughes from McComb also added for the 11-7 show along with Rudy Carr, Terry Mozingo, Craig Shedd and Andy Jones will also be on the roster doing a set on Friday afternoon. This event is growing day by day. |
