I can't help you for a new one, but have you tried prying up the 4 little tabs on the metal back of the pot, and removing it? Then get some contact cleaner spray at radio shack or some other store, squirting it, and rotating the wiper to clean it. That is all you might have to do. It is worth a try. The cleaner should be a cleaner/lube. Those AB pots are made very well compared to some of the junk out there today.

Larry,
I use Emmons Volume Pedals also. Let me recomend you try the Dunlop pots available from Tom Bradshaw.

I've had much better luck with the Dunlops than any others on the market.

Larry,
There are a # of potentiometers listed on eBay. Some are 500K. I'm a little confused about the proper size, My Ernie Ball VPjr has a 220K pot with a linear taper, it also has a small switch inside that places another 220k in parallel I guess, as it then measures 110K. Haven't tore into the PC board to know just what it does. www.graingers.com may have some of what UR looking for. Allen Bradley will probably sell you some, albeit 100ea/order.

Thanks Nick and Bill for the informaton.

Nick, there isnt much clearance between the end of my AB Pot. and the frame of my pedal. Are the pots you listed narrower than the ab pots. With the pot in the photo on the website, I dont think I could get it into my pedal.

You're right Larry, it is a tight fit, but it will make it. There was quite a lengthy discussion on this less than a month ago in Electronics. Do a
search.

Ronnie, I opened up the pot like you suggested and sprayed it out with some cleaner and lube that I got from Radio Shack. It was really filthy. Hope it gives we a little more time.

I am going to purchase one of the dunlop pots, but hope this one will get me through the weekend

Thanks to everyone for your help

Regards

I would like to thank everyone for the help with my volume pedal and pot.

I tried cleaning it like Ronnie mentioned, and darn it sounded good at home. But I think it was to far gone. Same night, after about 30 minutes, I had a heck of a time with it.

I think I neglected to mention that I put that pot in I believe in 1999 or 2000 so it lasted a long time.

Anyway, I contacted Tom Bradshaw ( as Nick suggested)and he got a new Dunlop pot in the mail to me right away. I installed the new pot yesterday and I played it for about 5 hours and it was smooth as silk. Sounds good too. No hiss no hum, just smooth volume and great tone. I didnt have any problem installing it. But as you said Nick, its tight. But I'll give it the real try tonight.

Again thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. And Tom, thank you for getting this new pot to me.

Respectfully
Larry Hutchison
