Update: The gig mentioned below is from 2 - 4 PM, not 2 - 5.
Sacred Steel lap steel wizard Aubrey Ghent and Friends will be performing (outdoors)at the opening reception for an exhibit of Kentucky African-American folk art at the Mennello Museum of American Folk Art in Orlando from 2 -5 pm Sunday 1/23/00. The exact time may chane a little. No admission charge.
The band will include Aubrey, his wife Lori and keyboardist Albert Moore on vocals and probably Furdell Baxter, drums. Aubrey is top-notch--one of the best of the genre. If you haven't heard him, imagine if Aretha Franklin or Shirley Caesar played steel like they sang.
The museum is located at 900 Princeton St. in the Lochaven complex in the Winter Park area.
I'll be there as MC and would love to meet any fellow forumites.[This message was edited by Bob Stone on 20 January 2000 at 03:03 PM.]
