I got tired of guitars leaning against things and always in the way so I made a cheap stand. I had a piece of wood 3/4x12x27". So I went out and bought a couple pcs of 3/4x1-1/2 firring strips. I nailed 9 pcs 9" long on the board and...done.
I put some 1/4" dowels in the old bookcase to keep the guitars from sliding over.
Now I've got a little more room for my psg and to walk around as well.
I doesn't look fancy but I like paying about $3 for the wood, rather than $150 or more for a commercial one.

Mike. "Greenie is much too precious to be taken out of it's case and be put with the run of the mill guitars. I really want to protect it from getting any scratches. |

As a DIY kinda guy, I have to say I admire your handywork.

Looks kinda "tight", though, don't it? |

Donny. It is a little tighter than I like. I wanted to keep the space for the body of the guitar tight so it couldn't twist and that part is good. From guitar to guitar could be wider however. My original thought was to use 2x2 dividers but I could only find 3/4x1-1/2
strips at a Do-it center. Perhaps in the future I'll do something a little different. |
