I have a Ken Fox modded SF Twin with Master Volume that was going along fine and then...about a 70% drop in power/volume. It's not the VP, or cords. Checked for loose tubes, etc.
Are there some likely things to check that may reverse the problem? Is this back to Ken for a power transformer, or what. It affects both channels.
Thanks,
Tim

You might try swapping in some tubes. The quad 6L6 set may have a bad tube (?) Even a pre-amp tube may be sick. Do the easy stuff first. I doubt if it would work at all if the PT went south, but maybe (?) If the trem and reverb work, it's likely in the power section. |

Tim, I am up in Oregon now for a 30 day vacation. I have pretty limited internet access.

Definitely not a power or output transformer (they either work or they don't), and I'd more likely suspect a bad connection somewhere. Are you using an external speaker? |

No external speaker. The speaker works fine through another amp. That's not to say the input jack isn't bad, but it has the same problem whether in the speaker out, or external speaker output jacks. The "drop" occurred right in the middle of a chord. |

Thanks to all. Talked to Ken and he directed me to the preamp tube, No. 6. As suggested early on, it was the culprit. Thanks to all I'm back up and running. Cheapest fix I've had in a while. Gotta love the forum! |
