I´m quite sure of that I´ve seen, somewhere, something about a GFI settings for a TubeFex. Does anybody know anything about that?
How do you connect your TubeFex to a Fender steel King? Are you using the "loop" or just a plain connection through the front socket.
Can anyone help me along, please

I have been using a tubefex for about 10yrs and I have tried about every way there is hooking it up. If I run through the effects loop the preamp of the amp overdrives the input level of the tubefex and causes it to sound muddy and distorted. If you run the volume pedal through volume pedal loop then the tubefex overdrives the input of the amps preamp and sounds muddy and distorted. The cleanest sound is to run from the steel into the vol. pedal and into the tubefex into the power amp input of your amp. The clean output on the tubefex is so low in volume that I couldn't get enough volume out of just the power amp portion of the amp.
I have finally settled and used this setup for stereo. PSG to matchbox to volume pedal to tubefex left out into input of the amp#1 which is the preamp part of the amp and the right output to the input of amp #2. I'm using both the preamps and power amps of the 2 amps and that gives me the volume I need.
As for programming, I have 6 different program section all programmed with the same effects except for tone and volume settings to match whatever venue I'm playing or if I'm using stereo or mono or running through the board. Each setting is 1 thru 9 with the sections separated by placing them into the 10's and the next in the 20's etc. So when I get to a job I select what’s best for that venue and I don't have to spend a lot of time tweaking and the list is always the same 1 thru 9.
I have always carried a spare tubefex with me for back up and believe me I had to use it a lot until I got battery and rotor pot mods on both tubefex. You've got to get rid of that battery. |

Bo,are you using the tube feature of the TubeFex?
I´ve got the opportunity, last night,to really try my equipment out and play at a very high volume. Just as you mentioned it started to sound muddy and distorted.
( Steel--vol.ped--Steel King--TubeFex (with tubes) via effect loop--Steel King out in the air )
This was the way I used my equipment.
I´m sure gonna try it the way you mentioned Bo and see if I can come out with a clean sound.
Thanks a lot.
