What pup do you GFI pickers like best? I am now using a GL110 wound to 19.23K this is a little dark for me. Any of you using Wallace True Tones? Ive used TTs before,& in spite of the slight hum, they have a nice tone I have not found in humbucks. Lets hear from you GFIers. |

True Tone wound to 12k works for me! Sweet, true single-coil tone, and I really haven't been bothered by single-coil hum, even at gigs! _________________ Primitive Utility Steel |

What kind of amp are you using?
How do you have your steel/pedals/amp/effects hooked up?
Also, if you are connecting directly from steel to volume pedal, what kind of volume pedal is it and if passive, what value of pot is inside?
This can all make a difference. _________________ Artie McEwan |

Thanks for the comeback AJM, I Go, steel to Black Box
to Hilton pedal to lo input of 112. I run an arion stero delay in a loop from the 112 in the pre power amp patch. I usually have my 112 settings at,
low+8 or9 ,mid-6, hi-3,pres-3.shift 800,rev4---6. These are subject to change as the venue changes& also, I am constantly looking for that "sweet spot". I run the pre gain at 4-6, post gain at 10 |

I'm with Sonny on the GFI II - the lower DC resistance (compared to most newer steel pickups) seems to give it a rich Fender Jaguar-like tone, but with more sustain, and an incredible amount of bottom end - maybe not so important for E9 guys but for my B6 copedent it's invaluable - I can rattle windows _________________ No chops, but great tone
