I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge or recollection about this steel guitar player/teacher? He was my Hawaiian lap steel teacher back around 1974-He taught out of the Douglas Music store on Chicago's south side and he lived in the far south Chicago suburban area-He supposedly played overseas in The Pacific during WWII-There is one old black and white photo of him playing steel in a combo group back in the day that I have seen but not been able to get-I heard that he died not too long after I quit taking lessons from him to learn pedal steel-His wife had thrown him out and he succumbed to exposure to cold while in his car-Sad way for the gentleman to go out-He taught me the basics of picking, bar technique, and reading tablature-How I wish he could have known that the foundation that he set for me has carried me onto greater things in life with steel guitar than I could have ever imagined when I was his 15 year old student
