Just spotted this one on youtube .... it's funny how they just ignored electric instruments for that cowboy atmosphere. Nice fills from Speedy.

There's a couple of other 'worth listening to' items by Speedy West.

His version of STEEL GUTIAR RAG is worth a listen and the Yodeling Boogie with Wesley Tuttle. CLose-up shots there of Speedy 'bar slamming' and using his right hand tone knob for his famous "Wham Bang" affect.

I failed to detect any hint of any electronic cut-off switches on that BIGSBY.

If you want to hear way more of this other side of Speedy's show style, then pick up the Jasmine label release of the live on TV CD - Let's Have A Party For The Old Folks. Here he does plenty of his usual wild stuff, but he also get's down with many incredibly sweet and soulful tunes like - My Tani, that have him playing beyond what most other players ever exibit, even himself.

He played more like this when he played for himself, using little to none of the antics we have all come to love from this incredible player.

In many way's, it's quite arguable that Speedy was the best ever.

Speedy did some fabulously soft and sweet playing, both melody and back-up, on the early day Eddie Kirk's Capital Records..........while Speedy was working with Cliffie Stone. Similar style to his own "Steel Strike" recording.
