Does any one know the correct height to mount an E-66 pickup on E-9? Did you set it the same for string 10 as you do for string 1?
Guitar is an Emmons PP. D-10. Right now it sounds a little muddy, especially on the bass side. Strings are Jagware and about 4 weeks old. |

Marvin, standard practice is to space that pick-up the thickness of a $.25 coin from the strings. |

I will adjust it to that height, it is higher than now as a quarter will not slide under the strings.
I had to rewire the guitar last night as a previous owner used plumbing solder to install the E-66 pickups. Every joint was a cold solder joint. New jack, switch and pot. I should be good to go now.
Thanks

Marvin,
A quarter distance is the best starting point but you might find a clearer sound if you drop it a tad lower maybe a quarter and one half to even two quarters! Experiment and you'll find the sweet height for that sweet tone! |
