I recently bought a CG on ebay a blonde three legger it was supposed to be all original however, when it arrived one pickup is black but the other is blue. The blue pickup's bobbin did not look as well made as the black one. So I figured the black plastic had deteriorated and was replaced with the blue. But when I took the pickup out the lead wire was identical to the black's lead wire. The pickup was really weak, so I stripped the windings figuring I would have it rewound. When I did I discovered that the bobbin had not been altered. It was advertised as a custom guitar but I figured that was the blonde finish. Has anyone ever heard of a late 40's CG with a blue pickup?

Jim -- I just checked out your beautiful guitar on ebay (searched completed auctions). WOW! You stole that steel--a real deal on the final price. I love the history and the wear on it -- to know someone really wound it up and used it professionally like that. It's a player. The inlay around the edges is in great shape. It's just a beautiful guitar. I think, like you might suspicion, that the blue pickup is original -- and how rare!!! I'm really excited for you. My Grande is my favorite steel, and the only part that keeps me on my toes is that when I pick it up to move it, it never fails that one of those darn legs comes unturned and falls off, leaving me in a pickle, temporarily, of course.

Congratulations!!!!

Al
