Crowbear I have been looking at the Stroborack as well, I see musicians friend has them for $359!
I believe Paul Warnik ? is field testing one so I'm waiting for him to post up a good field report. Looks like it is a beauty mate. |

I apologize for not getting out with an update on this unit sooner
I have received a Stroborack from Peterson and it has been installed in my rack system
It powers up and so far I have only tested it to check out tuning a few guitars at equal (440-default) temperament
I have not yet tried the sweetened pedal steel guitar or Dobro temperaments
I have been in contact with John Norris and He is still planning to stop by my place in the near future to help me with some operational guidance and to help program in my settings
We have been delayed in doing so by the fact that they (Peterson) are preparing to attend the upcoming Winter NAMM show in California
I told John we can hold off until after He returns from NAMM as I have not been using my rack system lately
I'm sure the Stroborack will prove to have all the reliability and versatility that Peterson has been known for 60 years now
Check the Peterson website for more info

from what i read on the peterson site concerning this unit, it seems to have the settings for psg E9 & C6
this what i'm lookin' for in a rack
could you confirm Paul, if the settings & way to adjust them are A-OK ?
(when you get a minute that is....)
Thanx |

Crowbear-the Stroborack has four sweetened pedal steel temperaments-these being Jeff Newman's C6th and E9th (two of them-E's raised above 440 or E's at 440)and a new inclusion to the Stroborack which is a Universal E9th/B6th temperament-The settings are selectable by turning the dial on the front-You might also have to use one of the push buttons to store the selected temperament which is the part that I am not clear on and am waiting for John Norris to help me with-Since my rack was engineered by Mike Cass for pedal steel (and that is pretty much all that I use it for) I figure that it would be best for me to have the Stroborack default to the OE9th setting as soon as it turns on (but I have yet to learn how to do set it that way)
I have not yet tried the Newman PSG settings in the Stroborack to see if they are indeed actually the exact same as the ones in my V-SAM and Stroboflip
I have no reason to believe the settings are any different and the Stroborack is deemed to have the same accuracy to 1/10th of 1 cent like their other tuners
I hope this is of some help for now
I know some players were "put off" by the delay between when these units were first advertised and the time when the factory began to ship them
As far as I know the units are available now and you should be able to get one shipped to you without delay from Musician's Friend or any of the other prominent musical equipment dealers (since Peterson was working to supply units to the larger volume dealers of their products first) |

CrowBear, I have one and am totally satisfied with it. The thing I like the most is I don't have to worry about the battries going dead which happened often with the Stroboflip. I would highly recommend it for anyone having a rack system. |

well i ended up getting one & wish to say that i don't regret it one bit
i find the steel presets quite good & general funktions & use pretty easy
i'll only be using 20 % of it's capacities considering all the types of instruments that can be tuned & modified
so far, it's great for my guitboxes, electik & acoostik, lap steel & psg
my only gripe is, like Josh E, considering the size of this unit, the little display that shows the menu & settings could have been bigger
overall display settings could have been conceived better for visual ease
i had a Korg DTR1 so i'm gonna have to get used to this baby
tuning my Zum is definitly a lot better than w: the Korg

I just got a second one to mount in another smaller rack system I have. It is so nice to have it right there at your fingertips, AND never have to worry about batteries. |

Crowbear, I picked one up at the Dallas show and it's a beaut...your right about the presets being a bit hard to read, but apart from that it's awesome. It is very handy having the presets available in one spot, rather than having to scroll through a bunch of temperaments to find them...I have my C6th, E9th, Dobro and 6 string presets all together! |
