I'm building an enclosed cab for a 4 ohm 15" speaker to use as an external speaker for my NV 112 (stand alone, not coupled with the 12" Blue Marvel).
So far I have been looking at the Weber Ceramic 15" "Michigan" (seems to have a little more headroom than the Cali.) and the Eminence 15" Commonwealth.
I really like the sound of the Eminence 15" Fender is using as a stock speaker for the Steel King, and other steel/jazz guitar marketed amps (I have the Twin Custom 15).
1.) Can anyone point me to specs on the stock Fender Eminence 15"? and/or offer their comparisom with the Commonwealth;
2.) I've noticed a lot of use of the "Cali" Weber, but little mention of the beefier Michigan. Why, and I would also be interested in comparisom with the Eminence Commonwealth.
I LOVE my NV12, and am not going to replace the stock 12" speaker (we all need a great portable amp like this!). However I feel while the 12" stock speaker is great at what it can do... my gut tells me this would be an amazing amp through a 15".... and well I intend to find out.
So for your responses assume I'm using the NV112's 80 SS watts into this 4 ohm 15". _________________ Dave Wren

Well..... I've scoured the internet forums.... and looked at about 30 spec sheets for 15" speakers... and enclosures, and I have decided to order the 15" Weber Ceramic Michigan (with the alum. dome and in 4 ohm version), and build an open-back cab for it. I'll post pix and my evaluations after I've finished and done a few gigs. _________________ Dave Wren

Smart move, Ted Weber gives u personal service also. I also checked Eminence and Celestion, and decided to use Weber speakers on a Vintage Traynor Solid State 2 X 12 i just snagged. I feel you will be very satisfied with Weber Speakers IMHO _________________ "Steel players are like fine wine, we get better with age" |

Thanks for the feedback Jim, I feel good about my decision, and look forward to using the new cab. _________________ Dave Wren

I use a California 15", tweaked up to 100 watts by Ted.
Sounds great.Punchy and tight. I`m sure you`ll be happy with the speaker. _________________ Olli Haavisto

Dave, Please let us know how you like it after you've installed. Also would be interested to hear your description on the Emi versus the Weber speaker. |

Will do Gibson. It will be a few weeks though. I understand it will take a while to get the speaker as they hand build them when they get your order. _________________ Dave Wren
