I know that the Goodrich matchbro is suppose to be the best for this and then the Bobro.

I don't have the money to buy one of these and I am told that a GE-7 eq pedal will work. My question is, with the dobro simulation, what effects are going on here other than eq. Or is it simply eq and that's all. Does anybody know.

I would be curious too. It definitely sounds like some sort of EQ/Phasing change but I can't put my finger on it.

I used to use a GE-7 for dobro sounds on guitar. For starters you can cut alternate sliders starting with 100 and boost alternate sliders starting at 200. Make sure the red light is on:) Tweak until it sounds good to you. Some people like it, some don't. YMMV. Buy a used one or borrow one from a friend. Maybe if you're in good standing at your local music store you could "try before you buy."
