I just noticed this auction:
Link to auction on eBay.
These are the tuners used on pre-war bakelite Ricks. The kind that often crumble. I have no connection with the seller, just thought that somebody here might need a spare or two...you hardly ever see them for sale.

Checked out the tuning machines.......

two of them were missing the knobby things.......

Closed out at $90.00 or $15.00 each.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, kind of pricey but if you need them for a bakelite...
Hey Ray, didn't I sell you a nice little two-knob B-6 a while back?

The old saying " there's a sucker born every minute"
(W C Fields) is no longer true. There hundreds born every minute now. Very Happy

If someone needed these tuners then why are they a sucker for bidding on them? Are you saying that because they used eBay? Fourteen people bid on them.

Ray,
It was a two-knob pre-war, I sold it to you through eBay quite a few years ago, very nice guitar.
Dave,
If I had a pre-war Rick with crumbling buttons, I wouldn't hesitate to spend top dollar for proper replacements. Unfortunately a lot of people just drill 'em out for Klusons...
BTW..P.T. Barnum is credited with saying " there's a sucker born every minute" , not W.C. Fields.

You're probably right.

I haven't had the chance to go look-up the facts but I'm sure you're correct. Great guitar tho'.

This same seller has a Supro lap steel with an amp-in-the-case. Rather interesting. (ebay no. 140241116385)

I looked for almost 2 years for one of these "crappy 7-sided buttons". That is the proper name for them Laughing They are cheap molded pot metal that have a tendency to crack and crumble.
Finally found a couple in a mixed lot on eBay for around $20. If I had not, I would have bid on these also.
Very rare indeed Exclamation

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
