Seems like all the buzz is about the NV112 these days. Anyone still using the 1000? You don't see them pop up for sale.

That pretty much indicates that most are using smaller/lighterweight amplifiers such as Nashville 112. However, the Nashville 1000 remains a good seller for us and should be used when more power is needed, or two Nashville 112's usually do the trick!

Although my NV1000 has been relegated to the backup amp, I wouldn't consider selling mine. In fact I'm still waiting (and waiting) for a Neo magnet for it.

Been using my Nashville 1000 for a few years now... It has all the power and tone I need, is always reliable, and can handle any playing situation from a very large hall to an outdoor venue.
I don't like the weight, but I like the amp a lot!

I've got an Eminence KAPPA LITE-3015 in my NV1000. I really like the sound and it may be lighter than the NV112. Lots of power

Well, I guess, since some consider the 112 to be “Half a 1000”, I could conceiveably say that I play a 1000, since I use (2)-112's! Well, maybe not! But, I did used to use 2x1000's and that worked out very well; dispite the weight drawback! I've never faced any problems while using (2)-112's either! It's more like making a choice between a 15” or (2)-12” speakers.

Part of the weight is part of the sound. Back in 1999, I had the pleasure of working on a project for Peavey where I took eight to ten Nashville 1000's and eight to ten Session 2000 amplifiers to the Peavey Nashville office/rehearsal hall. Our great friend, the late Jeff Newman had assembled the "A Team" of steelers and they jammed using the above amps for six hours plus for two days straight. This was their "stamp of approval" for the Nashville 1000.

The cabinet is all wood and no particle board or otherwise, so the some of the tone is derived from the all wood construction, plus the electronic circuit design and the 1501-4 ohm shallow basket Black Widow speaker. I don't think that you will find a better amplifier design anywhere.

Try the Nashville Series amplifiers at your next jam, dealer or convention and I think that you will like them too!

I use my Nashville 1000 amp as much as I use my Steel King amp and like them both. I use the 3 wire hook-up to the NV 1000 and find I can the sweet spot easier that way. If I could only have one Amp.....it would be the Peavey NV 1000.

I have the first Session 500 to hit Reno in 1980. I have hauled that heavy monster forever for the sound. A friend let me use his 1000 last summer for a gig but the 500 sounds better and the 1000 still weighs 50 or so lbs. I now have a Nashville 112- Thirty something lbs and tone to die for.Better separation of notes and cleaner than my 500. I have played two large conventions-2000+people and have no problem being heard- sound reinforcement is the answer, don't ya know. I can't see any reason to ever go to a 1000. Just my opinion.

Roger,
I still have a Peavey Nashville 1000 and use it some. I usually rotate around between it, my Webb, & Fender Twin Reverb.

I still use mine alot, although lately I've been using a Fender Twin Custom 15 on some gigs. Using the Twin and the Nash1000 together is a winning combination.

In one of my other incarnations, I play with a zydeco band, and the Nash1000 is also a killer accordion amp.

Nick, I think you have the right idea about changing amps every once in a while. I do that too. Sometimes my hearing makes me think my NV 1000 isn't doing the job, so I change to my Steel King and everything is O.K. again....after a while I will go back to the NV 1000 and it sounds good to me. I think everyone should have at least 2 good amps for that and other reasons. Smile

I normaly play through a nashville 112
and I love the sound and less weight
however I went to a friends house the other night
and played my steel through his new nv-1000
and found it to be a wonderfull sounding amp
silky highs and warm rich low end and very pleasent
mids NO honky sounds at all
if I had the bucks and wanted a new amp
it would be a nv-1000 if I could handle the weight
which isnt real bad on this amp Very Happy

maybe we don't see them for sale because they are

Not For Sale

I am currently seeking a Nashville 1000 to go with the Session 400 and Nashville 400. You guys can have the 80 watt amps. I like them fine but prefer the original Steel amps.

by the way half a Nashville 1000 is a 150 watt amp, half of THAT is a Nashville 112.( or there about)

I will have to agree with Mike Brown. I have played for a living until I opened a used car dealership.I did three shows a day seven days a week. I used nashville 400's until peavey came out with the nashville 1000. It has the power that it takes to play live shows I should have my new Mullen G2 in the next two weeks and I have another nashville 1000 down stairs just for it. I will put the 1000 against any amp made its clean with power. This is a must for a pro. If Jeff was still alive he would agree.

I like my Nashville 1000. It has the burr brown chips installed. I'd suggest to anybody that's goin to buy a Nashville 1000, to get one with the burr brown chips, or either install them yourselfs. I gauarntee you can here the difference. I put them in my Nashville 112's and they make a great amp sound even greater. My Nashville 1000 is a keeper for sure! Smile

I've had a couple NV-112 amps. They sounded good, but to me they just don't have that little extra, both in power and sound, that the NV 1000 has. I'd like to see Peavey make a NV 1000 preamp and split power module. Hey Mike how about it. Anyhow mine's not going up for sale anytime soon. A set of casters on the bottom works wonders!

A friend of mine suggested I try a Sansamp direct box for bass guitar. It sounded great so I plugged my steel into it then into the Hilton and then into the 1000 Pre EQ patch return, bypassing the 1000 preamp. It really works nice.

The "3 wire" hook up has been around since the early 80's when Peavey came out with the Session 500. Most do not use it because of the extra guitar cords that are needed.

Basically, you run the guitar direct to the input on the amp and then you run your POT type volume pedal in the effects loop (pre-gain on a Nashville 1000 or Nashville 112). With the 3 wire, your steel sees a constant impedence load and a POT type volume pedal does not affect the tone.

This does not apply to an electronic volume pedal such as the Hilton as it provides the constant impedence load to the guitar's pickup and does not affect the guitar's tone.

i just got this amp back from peavey, it has the 1501-4 dt black widow. it now has the best reverb of any peavey amp that i have ever played thru. is also super great for a fiddle. i dont really know what peavey did to it but it is the best peavey amp that i have (and i have about 12) it makes any steel guitar sound good...thanks jack
